William Wendell “Bill” Heflin, 76, of Rochelle, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at the Hospice House in Charlottesville. Born December 25, 1939, in Richmond, VA., he was the son of the late Walter Wendell Hodgson.
“Red” was a retired firefighter from Washington, D.C. from Station 9 and served from 1963 to 1990. He was a member of Culpeper Open Door Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother, Hazel Elizabeth Heflin Cranford of Amissville, VA; his wife, Nora Kay Heflin of Rochelle; one daughter, Claudia H. Cholerton and husband, James of Garner, N.C.; two grandchildren, Blake Mitchell Cholerton and Hope Marie Cholerton both of Garner, N.C.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison conducted by Pastor Bernie Jernigan with the interment following at Madison Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 10 to 11 am on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at the funeral home.
