Joyce Kennedy Marshman, 72, of Unionville, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 28, 2018 at Novant Health Prince William Medical Center. Joyce was born June 29, 1945 to the late Everett and Alice Kennedy of Tenth Legion, Virginia. In 1982, she relocated from her hometown of Harrisonburg, Virginia to Orange County, Virginia where she remained for the rest of her life.

She was a graduate of Broadway High School and Dunsmore Business College in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She worked at Virginia Electric and Power Company (VEPCO) in Harrisonburg, Virginia and later the Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services Vocation Training Center in Orange, Virginia. Most important to her was being a wife and mother to her family. In her later years, Joyce provided daily care in her home to numerous children and loved them as if they were her own. Special to her heart were Teal, Amythest and Jade.

Joyce was a devoted member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church where she served as a teacher, leader and faithful follower of Jesus Christ. During her time at Bethlehem, the church body was impacted by her tireless service.

Joyce was active in the East Orange Ruritan Club. Her service included past President, Secretary and Board Member. As a part of the Rapidan Ruritan District, she was the District Secretary for 5 years and the Zone 2 Governor for 3 years. Joyce provided many service hours to the community through the Ruritan Club.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Perry Fancher Marshman, two sons Michael and his wife Lauren Marshman of Martinez, Georgia and David and his wife Mary Marshman of Duluth, Georgia, five grandsons Evan, Adam, Brian, Erik and John and one granddaughter Holly Elizabeth, her two sisters Yolanda Kennedy and Peggy Kennedy of Harrisonburg, Virginia and her brother Everett Newton Kennedy of Broadway, Virginia.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Joanne Ondrush and Dr. Izuchukwu Obi as well as, the CCU staff at Novant Health Prince William Medical Center for the care they provided while she was at their facility.

A Celebration of her life will be held Saturday May 19, 2018 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Unionville, Virginia at 11:00 a.m.
