James Wetzel was

James Clark Wetzel, 91, of Charlottesville, Virginia, passed away on October 3, 2014, at the Laurels of Charlottesville. Born June 14, 1923, in Cumberland, Maryland. He was the son of the late Clark Wetzel and Sallie Bess (Wagoner) Wetzel.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wetzel was predeceased by his wife, Janet Davis Wetzel; a sister, Julia Wetzel Welch; and a brother, William “Bill” Wetzel.
James was a graduate of Fort Ashby High School and Potomac State University. He was an active member of Monticello Ruritan Club and Slate Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children, James “Bruce” Wetzel and his wife, Rosalyn, of Stuarts Draft, and Patricia Joanne Wetzel Snoddy and her husband, Howard, of Charlottesville; grandchildren, Hannah Joann Snoddy, Mariah Leigh Snoddy, Henry Earl Snoddy, Meredith McCool and Caroline Nesbitt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family thanks the staff at the Laurels and Dr. Joe May for their care.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2014 at Hill and Wood Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rhon Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Hill and Wood.
