Huberta Judith Coster, “Hubie” 75, of Unionville, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born to the late Hubert and Lula Wisell in Scotia, NY, Huberta graduated third in her class from Scotia High School in 1957. She worked from home doing upholstery and antique refinishing as well as accounting and tax preparation. In the 1980s, she formed the organization, CANDLE (Clarkstown Awareness Network for a Drug-free Life and Environment) in Clarkstown, NY.
Huberta served as president of the Ruritans for one year during her membership at which time she authored their monthly newsletter. As a result, the Ruritan club was recognized with numerous national awards. She also was treasurer and finance chairman at Salem United Methodist Church in Rhoadesville, and helped assist in organizing the choir at the church.
She was married 58 years to her high school sweetheart, Ronald Lewis Coster, but they were together for 63 years in life. They now will be together forever in eternity.
In addition to being survived by her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Diana Lynn Klecar and husband, Fred, and Susan Kathleen Verling and husband, Stephen, all of Unionville; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Survivors also include two sisters, Lois Wege of North Carolina, and Gail Olsen of Texas.
A visitation will be held from 7:00-8:30 P.M. on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home in Locust Grove. A funeral service and interment will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Salem United Methodist Church in Rhoadesville. Reverend Jeffrey Smith will officiate. A reception will follow the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Salem United Methodist Church.
