Vincent Goodsel “Jerry” Haught, Jr., 75, of Rixeyville passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, February 6, 2015.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Mary Cecelia “Celey” Haught, his daughters, Valarie Paige Minner and her husband Ken of St. Mary’s County, Maryland, Martha Bryson and her husband Mark of Rixeyville; his grandchildren Christin Green and her husband C.J. of Lexington Park, Maryland, Morgan and Sarah Bryson of Rixeyville and his great grandchildren Caleb, Colton, and Chloe Green and family friend Joseph Bender.

He was preceded in death by his parents V. G. Haught, Sr. and Mabel Compton Haught; his sisters, Frances Myers, Elsie Mason Bunting, and Lila Dean; his brothers, Ernest “Buddy” Smith and James Winfield Haught.

He was a third generation farmer and an avid golfer.

Jerry served his community on the Culpeper County School Board (1971 – 1989), Jefferson (VA) Ruritan Club, Culpeper Farmers Cooperative Board, Culpeper County Zoning Appeals Board, and Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service (ASCS) Committee.

The Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation named him Culpeper County’s Outstanding Conservationist in 1986 and awarded his farm, Ryland Chapel Farm, the Clean Water Farm Award in 1988.

The family thanks the Heartland Hospice for their compassion and care for Jerry.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home, Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in The Haught Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Clore-English Funeral Home.
