Russell Franklin Ferris, 92, of Culpeper County entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the James River Convalescent & Rehabilitation Center in Newport News, VA. Born on November 17, 1925, he was the eldest son of the late Jesse Ferris and Viola Booten Ferris. In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his son Kevin Russell Ferris; brothers, James, Jesse, Frank, and Hugh; and sister, Frances Rutherford.
Russell is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years Marie Jackson Ferris, daughter Tricia Wilson and husband Jacob M. Wilson, III, two grandchildren, Alexandra Wilson and McKinley Wilson, Newport News, VA, two sisters, Lucille Keys, Washington, DC and Sally Slaughter, Boston, VA, two aunts, Laura Hoffman, Reva, VA and Dolly Berry, New York; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Hope Baptist Church, 14123 Norman Road, Culpeper, VA 22701, with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 noon. Interment will be at Culpeper National Cemetery in Culpeper, VA. Arrangements are being handled by Tibbs Funeral Home & Cremation.
