Harold Sanford “Shorty” Estes, 73, passed away at 1:00 P.M. Monday, July 4, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 31, 1942 in Charlottesville, Virginia, son of the late Harold H. Estes and Azilee Deane Estes.
Sanford is survived by his wife, Edna Daughtry Estes; daughter, Anita McDaniel of Volusia County, Florida; son, Paul Estes of Greene County; three grandchildren, Chelsea, William and Leander.
He graduated from William Monroe High School and University of Virginia with a Masters Degree. Sanford was a teacher of Math and Industrial Arts and farming on his farm “Loma Vista.” Later in his life, he worked at Food Lion in Ruckersville.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Ruckersville Baptist Church with Pastors Kyle Clements and Wendell Lamb officiating. Interment will follow at Ruckersville Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
