Catherine Virginia (Staton) Palmer, 75, of Troy, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville.
She was born on November 24, 1940 in Albemarle County, a daughter of the late Dabney Reeves Staton, Sr. and Eva (Hunt) Staton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Herbert Palmer; five brothers, Francis R., Franklin R., Dabney M., Gerald W., and Kenneth W. Staton; and a sister, Elsie M. Ferguson.
Mrs. Palmer was retired from Sprint Telephone Company. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved working in her flower beds, gardening, mowing and maintaining her yard, and attending community events.
Survivors include four children, Bryan Keith Palmer and wife, Melody, Amy Karen Hasher and husband, Otis, David Warren Palmer and wife, Stephanie, and Lisa Fay Fleming and husband, Gary; five grandchildren, Kaersten Paige Aylor, Landon Keith Palmer, Bradley Warren Palmer, Jordyn Grace Palmer, and Jack Preston Fleming; a brother, Dabney R. Staton, Jr. and wife, Sandra; four sisters, Mabel Keppeler, Merle Jennings, Carol Coleman and husband, William, and Janice White and husband, Leonard; a sister-in-law, Estelle Staton; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Thacker Brothers Lake Monticello Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Monticello Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Tuesday evening, February 9, 2016 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
