Charles R. Ward, Sr., 90, of Palmyra, Virginia, passed away on August 10, 2023.
Charles was born in Connecticut on February 18, 1933, to Mr. and Mrs. Howard and Lila Ward. He is preceded in death by both his parents, his brother Howard Wesley Ward, Jr., and his son Charles R. Ward, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife Theresa Ward of 70 years, his grandchildren Jon M. Ward and Heather N. Camp and his great grandchildren.
Charles was a graduate of Fork Union Military Academy, class of 1952. He also attended Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont, and University of New Haven in Connecticut. Charles led a very active life and served his community in many ways. Charles served in the Air Force Reserves. He was an Enrolled Agent and licensed by the Internal Revenue Service. Charles, along with his wife ran an accounting business since 1956 and served the Palmyra community since 1972. Charles was a past president of the Fluvanna Lions Club, and a past treasurer of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Restaurant Association.
A funeral service will be held at the Fork Union Military Academy Chapel, 4744 James Madison Highway, Fork Union, Virginia, at 1:00pm on August 17, 2023, with interment to follow at Fork Union Memorial Cemetery, 4218 James Madison Highway, Fork Union, Virginia.
Family will receive friends at Salem United Methodist Church, 840 Salem Church Road, Palmyra, Virginia immediately after services.
