Betty Lee Walton Fields, 80, of Mineral, VA passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. She was born on July 28, 1943, to the late Martin Freeman Walton and Eunice Virginia Grubbs Walton. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Cary Lynn Fields.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Bobby Lee Fields. Together they raised their two sons, Shannon Fields (Amy) and Brandon Fields (Alisha), who also survive her; along with her grandchildren, Marvin and Cole; her brothers, Martin Freeman Walton, Jr. (Alma) and Thomas Hugh Walton.
Betty was the Postmaster in Gum Spring for many years before retiring. Following her retirement, she remained active in her community, the Rescue Squad Auxiliary, the Ruritan Club, and most especially, her beloved Oakland Baptist Church where she was a member for her whole life.
The family will receive friends at Oakland Baptist Church, 2965 Oakland Church Rd, Gum Spring, VA 23065 from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024.
A funeral will be held at Oakland Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024, with the Reverends Judy and David Bailey, and Steve Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oakland Baptist Church, 2965 Oakland Church Rd, Gum Spring, VA 23065.
