Lignum Ruritan Club was saddened to learn of the passing of our beloved member, Fred Creasy, this morning. The report indicates that he died of an apparent heart attack this morning. No further details are available at this time. Fred was the Rapidan District Zone 1 Governor, and secretary of the Association of Virginia Ruritans. We are all praying for Fred’s family. He will be dearly missed by all of us.

Funeral arrangements will be through Found and Sons Funeral Home (assuming in Culpeper VA.) In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Fred and Barbara Creasy Scholarships fund at the Ruritan National Foundation.

According to the Found and Sons Funeral Home, services are tenatively scheduled as follows: Both visiting and memorial services will be held at the Culpeper Baptist Church at 318 S. West Street, Culpeper VA. Visiting is tenatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 5pm. Ending hours are not known at this time. Memorial service is tenatively scheduled for Thursday April 9, 2015, at 10am. The funeral home encouraged us to check back onto their website later for updated information tomorrow.

Frederick C. Creasy, Jr., 67, of Culpeper died Saturday, April 4, 2015 at UVA Culpeper Hospital. He was born June 21, 1947 in Bedford, VA to the late Frederick C. Creasy, Sr. and Willie-Kate Mason Creasy.

Mr. Creasy was a Deacon and Assistant Sunday school Director at Culpeper Baptist Church where he had been a member since 1981, when he began teaching full time in the Culpeper County school system. He began his 46 year teaching career at Greensville County Junior High School, followed by Brunswick Academy before ultimately making Culpeper his home. While teaching in Culpeper, he was named Teacher of the Year in 2002 and retired in 2010 but continued to teach Physics part time.

Mr. Creasy was a member of the Lignum Ruritan Club, where he was past President and member of Ruritan National for over 35 years. He was also Zone Governor several times, Rapidan District Governor three times, a former National Director and Association Virginian Ruritan secretary.

He was also a member of the VA Association of Science Teachers, Virginia Instructors of Physics and was a Germanna Adjunct Professor for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Grubbs Creasy; his daughter, Angie Creasy-Thompson and her husband, Steve; their children, Jaycen and Zoe of Culpeper; one sister, Sandra Creasy of Bedford, VA; one brother, Gary Creasy and his wife, Susan of Winnsboro, SC; one niece, Kathy Creasy; and very close friends, Bob and Shirley Houck.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 5 to 9 pm at Culpeper Baptist Church Worship Center.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 10 am at Culpeper Baptist Church with Pastor Dan Carlton and Pastor Philip Walker officiating.

Interment will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 11 am at Lael Baptist Church Cemetery, 23296 Germanna Hwy, Lignum, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Culpeper Baptist Church Building Fund, 318 S West St. Culpeper, VA 22701 &/or Ruritan National Foundation, PO Box 487, Dublin, VA 24084.

Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is serving the family.

Salem VA Ruritan Club Installs New Officers

Salem VA Ruritan Club held their 2015 Officer Installation December 16, 2014 at their club headquarters in Culpeper during their regular December club meeting. Zone Governor Fred Creasy, did the honors of installing President Pat Kennedy, Vice President Robert Thornhill, Secretary Max Weber, Treasurer Barry Beale, and the new 3-year director Phil Hawkins. Two new members, Robert Baker and Douglas Lingenfelter were initiated by Creasy during the meeting. Four members received perfect attendance certificates, and club members were advised that the Salem VA Ruritan Club received a Gold Award for Social Development during the annual Rapidan District Convention held November 29, 2014.
