The East Orange Ruritan Club is holding an afghan raffle from now through December 11, 2017. Three 80″x52″chevron patterned afghans are prizes for the raffle. The afghans, made, and donated by Marv Zidzik. The afghans are in the colors of three popular Virginia schools – Virginia Tech, JMU, and UVA/OCHS. Tickets are being sold for $2.00, and the proceeds will benefit the East Orange Ruritan Club’s Scholarship fund for 2018.
There will be three separate drawings for the prizes. The first drawing will be held on October 7, 2017, the second drawing will be held on November 4, 2017, and the final drawing will be held December 11, 2017. The winner of the October drawing will be able to choose which of the three designs to take. The winner of the November drawing will be able to chose between the two remaining afghans, and the winner of the third drawing will receive the remaining afghan. The tickets can be purchased from any East Orange Ruritan Club member, or by calling Linda Wilson at 540-222-3736.
The Rapidan District’s Annual Winter Cabinet Presidents & Secretaries Dinner/Meeting will be held at 6:30pm January 18, 2016 at the East Orange Ruritan Club, at 24124 Constitution Highway, Unionville, VA 22567. A representative from each club in the Rapidan District will be given time to give a brief report of their club’s activities during the meeting. The Rapidan District Ruritan Cabinet honored the military veterans of the East Orange Ruritan Club July 13, 2015 at the East Orange Ruritan’s Clubhouse in Unionville, VA, by presenting them with Certificates of Appreciation during a visit by the Rapidan District Governor, Linda Bradshaw. Not present at the meeting to accept their certificates of appreciation were Paul Foltz, Jr. and Robert Wright. Robert Wright’s daughter Bethany was present at the meeting and accepted the certificate of appreciation on behalf of her father. The presentation of the certificates is part of the Rapidan District’s plans to thank, appreciate, and honor all of their local club’s veterans.
