The Greene County Ruritan Club’s Officers for 2016 were installed on December 17, 2015, at the Rosebrook Inn in Stanardsville, VA, during their Annual Christmas Dinner. The 2015 Rapidan District Governor, Linda Bradshaw, installed the new officers. The club officers will serve as the leaders of the Greene County Ruritan Club from January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2016.
The officers installed were Roy Dye, President, Andrea Wilkinson, Vice President, Paul Harrington, Secretary, Dick Early, Treasurer, and Joanne Burkholder, First Year Director.
After the installation, Bradshaw explained to the Greene County Ruritan Club the awards that the club had won for Community Service at the Rapidan District, and handed them to the club President, Andrea Wilkinson. The club won a “Silver” award for Public Service, and a “Gold” award for Social Development.
After the Community Service awards were given, Bradshaw honored the military veterans of the Greene County Ruritan Club with certificates of appreciation from the Rapidan District Cabinet. The presentation of the certificates was part of the Rapidan District’s efforts to and honor all of their local club’s veterans in 2015.
The veterans honored were: Robert Burkholder, Billy Caldwell, Tom Dean, Robert C. Doerr, Richard Early, Jerry Gore, Robert H. Grassi, James Ron Michael, Carl A. Schmitt, Norm Slezak, Steven S. Smith, Floyd Wilkinson, and Frank Wilzcek.
The Greene County Ruritan Club Display board that was used during the Rapidan District’s Convention in November 2015 was set up during the meeting for the members to enjoy. Plans are for the club to continue using the board at meetings and events to showcase their club’s events.
