A Challenge – Easy, Free, and Painless Way to Donate to Ruritan National Foundation

From the Desk of the 2015 Rapidan District Governor

It is with great pleasure that I am sharing with you the news I received today that the Ruritan National Foundation has signed up to participate in the Amazon Smile program!

I would like to challenge all Ruritan members that shop on Amazon dot com to sign up for the Amazon Smile program and designate their chosen charity as the Ruritan National Foundation. The Amazon Smile program is a way to shop through Amazon, and have a percentage of the price of your “eligible purchases” be donated to your designated charity. In this case, Ruritan’s National Foundation!

This is a no-cost method for the Amazon shopper way to get money to the Foundation! What are you waiting for? Here are details about how it works, taken from the Amazon dot com’s website:

From the Desk of the 2015 Rapidan District Governor, Linda Bradshaw:

We received a message through our contact form on this website from an organization that I think may be worthy of consideration for possible guest speaker(s) at our local Ruritan Clubs. Below is the copy and paste message from the contact form.

Hello, I am the Community Education Coordinator for LifeNet Health for this region. LifeNet Health is the federally-designated Organ Procurement Organization for most of Virginia and part of West Virginia. LifeNet Health is also one of the largest, most respected tissue banks in the country. We are responsible for all of the organ and tissue donations in our service area. As such we are also responsible for providing education about organ and tissue donation to correct the many myths and misconceptions about donation that exist in our community.

I’m writing to let you know about our speaker’s bureau. Our speakers are donor family members and transplant recipients who share their personal stories about donation as well as providing the facts about how the donation process works.

We would love to provide a speaker for an upcoming Ruritans Rapidan meeting. Please contact me at patricia_dean@lifenethealth.org or by phone at 804-317-4811 to arrange a speaker.

Thanks for your consideration.

From the Desk of the District Governor, Linda Bradshaw:

Earlier this week I received a newsletter in the U.S. Mail from the Hunters For The Hungry. For those of you who may not know, the Hunters For The Hungry is a charity that is widely supported by Ruritan Clubs across Virginia. Looking through the newsletter, I was proud to read that Ruritan Clubs Across Virginia are in their list of 2014 Financial Donors in the category of “$50,000 and up.” There was no higher category on their list, and there was only one other listing. That other listing was the Wal-Mart Foundation.

Reading further into the newsletter (on their page 7,) there is a chart that listed the individual Districts and clubs that donated, and I was proud to read that ten clubs in the Rapidan District had donated a total of $1,900 in 2014. That donation of $1,900 resulted in 16,720 servings of venison! Good work, and kudos to all!
